Desiccation

Desiccation is a damage type that appears in dNetHack, notdNetHack and notnotdNetHack, and it uses the AD_DESC damage type flag.

Attacks that inflict dessication damage drain the moisture from the body of a target to restore the attacker's HP. Monsters that are made of water or moisture, such as the water elemental and the daughter of Naunet, will take double damage from desiccation attacks and similar abilities.

The "Horrid Wilting" active power of the spirit Iris inflicts desiccation damage on monsters using five damage dice with sizes equal to the hero's spirit dice (i.e. 5dX), and deals doubled damage to monsters made of water or moisture.
