Million-arm

The million-arm weapon, also known as million-arm or Deva arms, is a melee attack type that appears in dNetHack, notdNetHack, and notnotdNetHack, and it is somewhat associated with the deva monsters as implied by one of its names and its flag. The attack type is defined by the AT_DEVA flag within monattk.h in the source code.

Description

The "million-arm" attack behaves as a normal attack with a weapon does in several aspects: a monster that has a million-arm weapon attack will perform the attack with any wielded weapons they have available, or use their bare hands (or equivalent extremity) with any worn gloves if they do not have a compatible weapon to wield—the attack does normal physical damage and the damage added by the wielded weapon, plus any damage specified by the damage type for the attack itself. The primary difference is that if a million-arm weapon attack hits, the monster will repeat it until either they miss, the target is killed or they are interrupted through other means.

Only four monsters have "million-arm" attacks, including a single Deva monster:

• q blessed (physical)
• 9 Mahadeva (physical)
• & ancient of blessings (disenchantment)
• U many-taloned thing (physical)

Million-arm attacks are valid attack types for randomized horrors.
