Find

The find command is a command exclusive to FIQHack. It can be performed using Ctrl + F, and allows you to search for remembered items and traps that you have seen throughout the dungeon, whether on the floor or inside a container.

Description

When using the #find command, you will be prompted for an object, trap or other feature; you can enter part of a word or a single glyph, then press the Enter key to search all levels that you have visited in the dungeon. Any results found are listed in the center of the screen, and pressing the letter of that item (or stack) will reveal its exact location.

Strategy

The #find command is a highly useful memory aid: it can locate all types of items that were accidentally dropped, stashed and forgotten, or else misplaced. This is as applicable to mundane objects (such as thrown projectiles) as it is to potential ascension kit candidates or even the Amulet of Yendor, which is often misplaced when killing the Wizard of Yendor (or his clone) without noticing that he has stolen it from you.

In terms of dungeon traps, #find can locate magic traps to restore your abilities in case you are cancelled; it can also locate level teleporters, which do not disappear after one activation as in vanilla NetHack, and can serve as a means of reusable fast-travel.
