- For the artifact in other variants, see Lifestealer.
Lifestealer is an artifact that appears in SporkHack. It is chaotic-aligned, and its base item is a two-handed sword.
Generation
Vlad is guaranteed to be generated with the weapon when he appears on the top floor of his tower—if the item already exists in that game, however (e.g. in bones), it will be replaced with a regular two-handed sword.
Due to its method of generation, it does not increase the artifact count for purposes of wishing.
Description
While wielded, Lifestealer grants drain resistance and has +1d5 to-hit and +1d2 damage bonuses against monsters without drain resistance: similar to Stormbringer, it will also drain life from a non-resistant target and reduce their level by 1, and lowers their current and maximum HP accordingly (with the default value being 1d8). Lifestealer is immune to the effects of the drain life spell.
Strategy
A comment in the artifact's data indicates that it is made two-handed to dissuade players from using the artifact themselves, as two-handed weapons were still considered unpopular at the time of its addition.
