A scroll of ice is a type of scroll that appears in SlashTHEM.
Generation
Scrolls of ice make up 1⁄100 (1%) of all scrolls randomly generated on the ground or as death drops. General stores, second-hand bookstores and rare books shops can sell scrolls of ice.
Writing a scroll of ice with a magic marker takes 10 to 19 charges.
Description
When read, a scroll of ice will auto-identify and affect the hero's surroundings depending on the scroll's beatitude: a blessed scroll of ice creates 3 puddles on adjacent squares around the hero, while an uncursed scroll of ice creates five squares of ice, and a cursed scroll will create seven squares of ice.
Reading a scroll of ice while confused will instead remove ice from adjacent squares around the hero and create a monster depending on the scroll's beatitude—a blessed scroll of ice removes six squares of ice from around the hero, while an uncursed scroll removes four squares and a cursed scroll removes two. The scroll will then create an ice elemental if any ice is cleared this way, and will otherwise create an ice vortex, and that monster's behavior will depend on the scroll's beatitude:
- A blessed scroll has a 4⁄5 chance (80%) of creating a tame monster, a 3⁄20 chance (15%) of creating a peaceful one, and a 1⁄20 chance (5%) of creating a hostile one.
- An uncursed scroll has a 1⁄5 chance (20%) of creating a tame monster, a 3⁄5 chance (60%) of creating a peaceful one, and a 1⁄5 chance (20%) of creating a hostile one.
- A cursed scroll has a 1⁄20 chance (5%) of creating a tame monster, a 3⁄20 chance (15%) of creating a peaceful one, and a 4⁄5 chance (80%) of creating a hostile one.
