A scroll of antimagic is a type of magical scroll that appears in dNetHack, notdNetHack and notnotdNetHack.
Generation
Monks may receive a scroll of antimagic as the random scroll in their starting inventory. Wizards may receive a scroll of antimagic as any of the three random scrolls in their starting inventory.
Scrolls of antimagic make up 9⁄500 (1.8%) of all randomly generated scrolls.
Four scrolls of antimagic are generated within the chest opposite the throne on the top floor of the Windowless Tower at level creation.
An uncursed scroll of antimagic is generated within the cursed chest that is found in the Madman quest home level's southeastern-most corner at level creation.
Spell golems cannot drop scroll of antimagic among the random scrolls they leave as a death drop in place of a corpse.
Description
Reading a non-cursed scroll grants temporary magic resistance for 400 more turns, but blocks the hero's spellcasting abilities for the same duration—reading them while confused instead removes any magic resistance granted from a previously read scroll. Reading a cursed scroll instead reduces the hero's current current energy by 400, or increases it by 400 if read while confused.
