Talk:Amulet of life saving
I would urgently like to know the effects of B/C/U status of this amulet. I have a cursed amulet and I'm in a tight corner.--PeterGFin 12:53, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
- Other than not being able to remove it, it functions as normal. --Paxed 16:01, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

Stealing from a nymph while polymorphed as a nymph
"Polymorph into a nymph and steal it back This has the added advantage that the nymphs' steal attack does not affect other nymphs." I dunno if this works or not, but it seems like there should be some reassurance that a player polymorphed into a Nymph can steal from a normal Nymph, maybe backed up by the code or something? Right now it seems like it contradicts itself.4.90.14.45 04:20, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
- What it means is that you can polymorph into a nymph and steal back your amulet of life saving from the nymph knowing that the nymph won't steal anything from you while you're in nymph form (it seems nymphs seem to go by a code of honor not to steal from their own kind; it doesn't retaliate when you steal from it anyhow). I admit the wording in the article is unclear about this. I'll clean it up. —Shijun 08:23, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
Who cannot wear it?
What monsters cannot wear this amulet? Testing in wizard mode with self-polymorph, I haven't come across any. This is interesting in case you can repeatedly polymorph the nymph that stole your amulet. -Tjr 12:41, 25 July 2009 (UTC)
Is it possible to still die?
I got lucky, and came across an amulet early in the dungeon. I identified it, and it showed up as an amulet of life saving. Later on, I was backed into a corner by a little dog and green dragon, and, out of options, I rushed the staircase, knowing I would die on the way but the amulet would save me. Unfortunately, it didn't. I died with it still in my inventory. I was playing the latest stable release of Slash'EM. Does it work differently there? Actually..nevermind. I forgot to put it ON :( 76.246.255.84 09:22, September 15, 2009 (UTC)
- No kidding. Try bringing one all the way to the Astral Plane and forgetting to put it on after swimming in the previous plane. Almost destroyed my laptop after that one (dammit that was a good game.) https://alt.org/nethack/userdata/K/Klintos/dumplog/1442317491.nh343.txt --Davek (talk) 20:01, 30 September 2015 (UTC)
Is this worth mentioning?
If you throw a cockatrice corpse up in the air, not wearing gloves or a helmet, the amulet won't save you. It saves your life from throwing the corpse, but not from it falling on your head. Given how much of a corner case this is, I'm thinking it's prob. not worth cluttering up the article with it, but if anyone thinks it should be mentioned... -Ion frigate 06:40, March 24, 2010 (UTC)

Awkward/untrue phrase
"Survivor is not something that can be achieved deliberately". not only does this turn of phrase seem factually wrong (perhaps i'm missing something?), it seems directly contradicted in the same sentence, implying it can be achieve through skill. --Ilya86 13:20, 25 November 2010 (UTC)
Destroyed gloves while wielding a petrifying corpse
The page used to say that the amulet will not save your life if your gloves are destroyed while you're wielding a petrifying corpse. I've tried to reproduce this, but in all the cases I've tried, the amulet always saved me (and the corpse was unwielded), so I removed that bit. Feel free to re-add it if you can verify it, though. —bcode talk | mail 14:14, 13 July 2013 (UTC)
