Beehives contain killer bees and one queen bee. Roughly 1/3 of the squares will contain royal jelly. All residents are asleep when the room is generated.
Generation
A beehive has a 1/5 chance of generating in an ordinary rooms and corridors level that is at least dungeon level 10, and does not have a shop, throne room, leprechaun hall, zoo or temple.
Beehives will not be generated if bees are genocided or extinct.
Special levels with beehives
The Wizard's Tower has a beehive.

Strategy
If you have poison resistance and stealth, you can easily fight the bees one by one.
