A green lightsaber is a weapon specific to SLASH'EM. It uses the lightsaber skill that is restricted for all classes.
It can be used to burn Elbereth into the floor as with a wand of fire or lightning.
Although it turns off automatically when you unweild it, people have managed to get a lit green lightsaber as alternate weapon for dual wielding.
