This is the current policy that Wikihack editor(s) tend to follow. If you need to change it, please edit the page and be reasonable.

Main policy

Follow central policies. 

At the Central Wikicity there are terms of use and other policies. No single user owns this wiki, nor any article page; see Ownership. Users shall not harass other users. Content that you upload to this wiki must be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License; see Project:Copyrights and Wikia copyrights.

Generally avoid adding spoilers or content written by someone else. 

If you ask for the author's permission to add it to Wikihack according to our copyrights, then yes, you can add it. Otherwise, it is best to assume not. Try to link to other wikis instead of copying from them, and always give credit to any authors outside of Wikihack.

The scope of this wiki is NetHack and its variants. 

It would be strange not to mention Slash'EM or other related games. Because of the scope, you can expect a page called magic to be about magic in NetHack; there is no need to disambiguate the page by calling it "magic (NetHack)" or "magic in NetHack".

Prefer consistent naming convention. 

Name most pages with lowercase letters, like scroll of identify, but use uppercase when necessary, as with Amulet of Yendor. Redirect acronyms like YAFM to pages like Yet Another Funny Message. However, identify, scroll of identify, and spellbook of identify can be three separate pages.

Use discussion and user pages appropriately. 

Discussion pages are for talking in ThreadMode; user pages belong to a particular user.

For images, follow the image use policy. 

Note that all images must have a license tag such as {{NGPL}} for NetHack screenshots.

Lack of policy

This wiki might develop other policy, but currently there is no policy in the following areas:

• There is policy for point of view. You might encounter neutral point of view, sympathetic point of view, or something else. As MeatballWiki describes it, "It is critical to understand that DocumentMode emphatically does not always mean NeutralPointOfView."
• There is no restriction on vanity pages, nor YANI pages. Thus, you can create a page about yourself (distinct from your user page), and you can invent new objects or monsters and write pages about them, though you must allow other users to edit these pages.
