A rod is a type of weapon that appears in EvilHack and Hack'EM. It is one-handed and uses the mace skill. It has a base object material of gemstone, and appears as an "ornate mace" when unidentified.

The Wand of Orcus is an artifact rod in EvilHack, and The Sceptre of Might has its base item changed to a rod in both variants.

Generation

Rods are not randomly generated. Asmodeus and Dispater are always generated with a rod.

A rod can be created at a forge by combining 2 rubies and a mace.

Strategy

The rod has slightly better damage against large monsters compared to the standard mace.

Encyclopedia entry

Rods were sceptre-like objects that could be used by
spellcasters to focus their spells, and were particularly favored
by wizards. Some magical rods had unique magical powers, often
found in the possesion of powerful planar beings. Rods could
also be employed in battle, and were effective bludgeoning
instruments.
