A scythe is a type of two-handed weapon that appears in dNetHack, SpliceHack and Hack'EM.

Generation

Scythes do not generate randomly.

In SpliceHack and Hack'EM, redcaps and Death always get a scythe. In these variants, The End is also the only artifact scythe.

In Hack'EM, peasants have 20% chance to generate with a scythe.

History

The scythe first appears in dNetHack. SpliceHack created a grain scythe that appears to be influenced by the dNetHack scythe, but it was later renamed to just scythe.

The grain scythe was ported from SpliceHack to SLASHTHEM.

Hack'EM later ported the latter scythe from SpliceHack.

Variants

SLASHTHEM

Grain scythes get +6 to-hit and +20 damage vs straw golems.

In SLASHTHEM, the grain scythe only does d8 vs small monsters.
