Firstly, I'd like to say that the wards system from dNetHack is wonderful way how to replace Elbereth and I really love how it works. Based on the idea of different wards protecting the player from different threats, I came up with an idea of improving/adding several rings to improve and replace the current behaviour of the ring of protection from shape changers, which I feel is nearly useless, at it fills a small and rarely encountered niche as an utility item.
