Dream quasielementals are shapeshifters in dNetHack. They polymorph just like chameleons, but with a 1/3 chance of turning into their base form instead each polymorph, so they'll often be encountered as their true selves. In their base forms, they also hate iron, which can make them easier to dispatch.

Orange half-dragon bards can sing dream quasielementals into being.
