A killer tripe ration, %, is a type of monster that appears in SLASH'EM, SlashTHEM and Hack'EM. The killer tripe ration is a mindless and unbreathing carnivore with no limbs, head or eyes like other evil food—in Hack'EM, it is capable of passing between iron bars.
A killer tripe ration has a single bite attack, and in Hack'EM it possesses acid resistance and a vulnerability to fire.

Generation
Killer tripe rations are not randomly generated except in aligned areas such as Sokoban, the Gnomish Mines, and the Oracle level. They are normally created hostile, and will not appear in Gehennom.
Bad food shops can contain sleeping killer tripe rations.[1]
A killer tripe ration has a 1⁄4 chance of generating asleep in The Chamber of Gluttony within the Lawful Quest at level creation.
Killer tripe rations do not leave a corpse upon death, and have a 1⁄3 chance of dropping a tripe ration.[2]
Strategy
Though they are somewhat stronger in terms of attack power, killer tripe rations are generally encountered at a point where almost any hero is capable of handling a room full of evil food, and can dispatch a singular killer tripe ration with ease. Killer tripe encountered earlier via polymorph can be handled easily by taking advantage of their low speed, especially in combination with the speed system of SLASH'EM and SlashTHEM.
History
The killer tripe ration first appears in NetHack-- 3.1.3.
