Description

The Ruinous Descent of Stars has +1 to-hit and deals double damage, and always gains double the strength bonus for damage as if it were a two-handed weapon (e.g., up to +16 at 25 strength, instead of +8). While carried, The Ruinous Descent of Stars grants magic resistance.

The Ruinous Descent of Stars has several effects related to sanity and insight:

  • At less than 100 sanity, The Ruinous Descent of Stars deals extra acid damage equal to 2d(sanity lost / 4), with a cap of 2d12 at 52 sanity or less; with clear thoughts, this is reduced to +1d12.
  • At 6+ insight, The Ruinous Descent of Stars deals +1d6 fire damage for every 6 insight, up to +6d6 fire damage at 36+ insight.
  • At 42+ insight, The Ruinous Descent of Stars may summon falling stars on a hit that are centered on a singular random point somewhere on the level - the falling stars cause up to 6 physical-damage explosions & 6 fiery explosions that deal 6d6 damage each. The odds and maximum number of explosions rises with insight, always triggering and causing up to 7 explosions at 72+ insight 72+.

Invoking The Ruinous Descent of Stars causes up to 1d4 (1d(level⁄10 + 1)) clusters of fiery explosions and earthquakes at random places on the current level.
