The Noble, abbreviated by the game as Nob, is a role that is the primary focus of the Noble Role patch against NetHack 3.4.3 by ChrisANG.

Though the stand-alone original patch is considered to be lost to time, the patch author has also incorporated the role directly into his variant dNetHack: the two links given here and in the patch table to the right point to the initial commits introducing the role on GitHub. These commits are relatively early in dNetHack's lifespan, and may be old enough that it is possible to apply them directly against the base code of NetHack 3.4.3, and in a worst-case scenario where the original patch cannot be found, it is likely that the original patch, or a patch resembling what the original might have been, can be reconstructed from the provided commits.

Nobles in variants

In addition to dNetHack, the Noble role is also implemented in SlashTHEM, which retains the role from its predecessor Slash'EM Extended, as well as the dNetHack-based variants notdNetHack and notnotdNetHack.
