In NetHack, Mog is the neutral god of the Rogue pantheon.

History

In NetHack 3.4.3 and previous versions, including some variants based on those versions, Mog is one of two gods not to have an in-game encyclopedia entry, with the other being Set.

Origin

Mog is a deity that appears in the Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser stories of Fritz Leiber. He is the Newhon god of plots and deception, and is often depicted as a man-sized and four-legged spider with the head of a usually-human man that is sometimes described as handsome. Mog is not to be confused with the Spider God, a deity from the same setting who resembles a more traditional massive spider and delights in human sacrifice.

Variants

dNetHack

In dNetHack, notdNetHack and notnotdNetHack, Mog is a neutral god of neutral holiness, and his minions consist of giant spiders, mirkwood spiders, Angels, and mahadevas.

Encyclopedia entry

Mog is known as the Spider God. Mog resembles a four-limbed spider with a handsome, if not entirely human, face.
