- This article is about the monster in dNetHack and its variants. For the monster in other variants, see baby deep dragon.
A baby deep dragon, D, is a type of monster that appears in dNetHack, notdNetHack and notnotdNetHack. Known in previous versions as a deep wyrmling, the baby deep dragon is a type of baby dragon that has higher effective AC and damage reduction than the other baby dragons in the same monster class, and has a much lesser version of its adult form's affinity to life drain. All 10 of a deep dragon's AC points are in the natural category, and it has 4 points of natural damage reduction.
A baby deep dragon is amphibious, breathless and capable of tunneling—like many other baby dragons, it is carnivorous and has a strong, quadrupedal and thick-skinned form with wings, an elongated head and no hands. The baby deep dragon will seek out gold and gems to collect.
A baby deep dragon has a poisonous bite that drains strength. Baby deep dragons possess drain resistance.
A baby deep dragon is poisonous to consume.
Generation
Baby deep dragons are not randomly generated, and normally created ones are generated hostile. A baby deep dragon can grow up into a deep dragon.
