A dwarf zombie, Z, is a type of monster that appears in NetHack. A dwarf zombie has a single claw attack, and can follow you to other levels if it is adjacent.

Generation

Randomly generated dwarf zombies may occur in small groups of 2 to 4, and are always hostile.

A dwarf zombie will leave an aged kobold corpse upon death.

Strategy

Dwarf zombies are much weaker than regular dwarves and lack any form of defense outside of a slightly-better-than-base 9 AC, and should generally be easy for most characters to manage.

History

The dwarf zombie first appears in NetHack 3.3.0, unlike the other various zombies that were first distinguished from each other in NetHack 3.0.0.

Encyclopedia entry

The zombi ... is a soulless human corpse, still dead, but taken from the grave and endowed by sorcery with a mechanical semblance of life, -- it is a dead body which is made to walk and act and move as if it were alive.
