A Jrt Netjer:
|
A Jrt Netjer, A, is a type of monster that appears in dNetHack, notdNetHack and notnotdNetHack. They are a possible inhabitant of an angel-hellish seal. They are notable for their high damage attacks and for the large numbers of allies they can summon.
Fang of apep
All Jrt Netjer generated in a hellish seal have a Fang of apep piercing their hearts [1],the fang can be removed by untrapping the angel if certain conditions are met.
The following are required to be able to remove the fang:
- The Jrt Netjer must not be wearing a body armor or a shirt. [2]
- You either must be wielding a scalpel [3] or use an artifact's power to untrap [4] it.
- The Jrt Netjer must be unable to move. This can be done by using conditions like sleep or paralysis, or by a trap such as a web trap.
- Time must not have stopped.
If all conditions are met, the fang will be removed from the Jrt Netjer's heart. If the hero is a healer or has the spirit buer bound, they will treat the wound left by the fang, causing the angel to become tame. Otherwise, the Jrt Netjer will take either 10d4 (Removal by artifact) or 20d4 (Removal by scapel) damage. If it survives, there is a (CHA+2)/20 chance for it to be pacified. Independent of the outcome, a Fang of apep will be generated.
Origin
Jrt Netjeru are original to dNetHack. The name comes from Ancient Egyptian - "Jrt" means "eye", and "Netjer" means "god", so "Jrt Netjeru" means something like "eye god" or "eye of god". They are inspired by the Eye of Ra and Eye of Horus.
