An orcish bow is a launcher for arrows. When unidentified, it is a crude bow. You should not bash monsters with it, or throw it—instead, wield it in your hands, then throw arrows (or fire them from your quiver).
For non-orcish characters, an orcish bow is basically the same as a regular bow. However, characters who started as an orc get a +1 multishot bonus when firing orcish arrows from an orcish bow, even if they are polymorphed into a non-orcish form.[1]
