Resistances conveyed

The box says that eating the corpse conveys zero resistances, but I just ate one on NAO and felt full of hot air... Fyr (talk) 22:02, 17 December 2015 (UTC)

Did you eat a corpse of a black pudding, or a glob? If the former, you're still playing 3.4.3. -- Qazmlpok (talk) 23:11, 17 December 2015 (UTC)

Add something about the fact that people unskilled with daggers can cut the puddings and they will split in two at a chance of 1/5. Happened to me.--Vanzant Elbereth 00:53, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

Vegetarians beware!

Could someone please add that their corpses are not vegetarian? I lost my last vegetarian game that way.

Thanks! --Nightpenguin 13:59, 10 May 2011 (UTC)

Good idea, I've done it.
In the future, just be bold. Make the wiki great. --Tjr 11:45, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

To much damage >.>

As far as farming black puddings, I am having a difficult time. Long story short..... I found a tinning kit. Blessed it. Tinned ALOT of giant. Ate them. I now have strength 18/**. I tried using a orc dagger. I am doing to much damage to farm effectivly. I tried to use a cursed scroll of charging on a ring of increased damage. Anywho, it melted or something.

ANY ideas to decrease damage to farm them?— Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.123.205.9 (talkcontribs)

Use a -3 orcish dagger. A -3 orcish dagger will always do 1 damage and will not factor in strength bonuses. You can easily get an orcish dagger to -3 by engraving "x" until it is too dull - at this point it is -3. Make sure it isn't cursed before wielding a random dagger. -- Qazmlpok 21:54, 31 March 2012 (UTC)

It worked, thankyou bunches =]

Pets polymorphed as puddings

I'm going to add in a section on each of the pudding pages, and check to see if this little gem exists on the polymorph trap page...

I just polytrapped my doggy into a pudding, and thought... what if.

So (being a brown pudding and not having a Puddingbane handy) I whacked my little buddy with my iron helm.

Lo and behold, I ended up with two tame (albeit probably less tame) brown puddings called Felix. It may be completely plausible to pudding farm pets for polytrapping!

All this because I've been here for 30 minutes because my invisible, artifact wielding pet titan (who WAS my doggy) ate a doppelganger and became a newt.

Thanks for your contribution! Just a note: it does not have to be a polymorphed pet, a pet that's naturally a pudding is fine too. Also, what you added implied that killing pets angers your god. That's wrong.
I altered that a bit. —bcode talk | mail 22:25, 6 February 2013 (UTC)
The old pudding (who stays put) will lose one tameness and gain one abuse. The new pudding (on an adjacent spot) will have tameness 5 and abuse zero. Pacifist best practise is that you divide your puddings at leisure and track their tameness and abuse in their names. Then polymorph the unabused ones into something carnivorous, feed them lots of meatballs to get to tameness 20, and then whistle the entire unabused herd onto the polytrap until you get something good. Deposit the good morphs on a different level and visit it every 74 turns (to keep tameness up) while you work the rest. Something good means a balrog, and possibly other red demons, titan, jabberwock, (master) mind flayer, purple worm, winged gargoyle. Don't bother with the other "recommended" types if you really depend on your pet for ascension. Those get added by players who nearly got mauled by a soldier ant and now think it can face the Riders (I may have exaggerated for effect). ---Tjr (talk) 19:24, 7 February 2013 (UTC)

polymorph

Because of what, globs of black pudding? You could polymorph the corpses before, so globs really aren't any better for this. Probably worse, since you can't stack them. -- Qazmlpok (talk) 16:31, 15 December 2015 (UTC)

NPOV

ineffective and pointless
  • setting aside the POV, would it not be worthwhile trying for deatch drops? even a little bit? --Evilkolbot (talk) 12:56, 3 February 2017 (UTC)
No. It's almost completely pointless. You will never get a death drop from a black pudding. They do not drop corpses any more, preventing sacrifice farming or even obtaining intrinsics (intrinsics will be corrected in the next patch). Cloned monsters give significantly less exp. About the only thing they can be farmed for now is pets - make a bunch of black puddings, tame them, polymorph them into something useful. Or maybe used to fill the astral plane, but acid blobs are probably a better bet. -- Qazmlpok (talk) 00:42, 4 February 2017 (UTC)
