boulder

Boulders do not stack. Somebody asked that in the edit summary. --Tjr 19:01, 4 August 2011 (UTC)

carry more to move/ go to stash

My stash is on Dlvl 4. I have two blessed bags of holding on Dlvl...........28. each bag puts me to strained. "Im a pack rat" Ive tried to change i cant help it >.<. I tried to poly into a giant, stone giant, titan. Anything I can turn into to carry more?

No. The most any creature can carry is 1000 units - this includes giants and the like. Giants can carry boulders, but that's because they're special-cased to be weightless for them, not because they actually have the capacity to carry them. If your strength isn't really high, you probably can only carry 975 units in your natural form, but that difference is hardly noticeable if your bags are putting you to strained. Drop some of your junk. -Ion frigate 07:06, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
No. But what you can do is nest blessed BoHs with the heaviest one placed innermost for maximum weight loss. I'm a fellow pack rat myself ;) Dratinimaster (talk)

Im at 18/star star power guantlets are in stash i perfer dex ones. Alright though i appreciate the insight..........What symbol represents a spellbook in NetHack?(checking)+

If you have teleport control, a confused (usually) or cursed scroll of teleport can get you to DL4 rather quick. The Orb of Fate can levelport you, too. After you levelport to 4, you can dig down to get back. The The Eye of the Aethiopica can warp you to Sokoban, too. Derekt75 15:35, 2 April 2012 (UTC)

Max Object Weight

I was going to add a statue of a dragon at 6750 (4500*1.5) as the "heaviest" object, but this might not be helpful if it invites the pedantry of considering the possible maximum contents etc, or even a superball. Any opinions?--PeterGFin (talk) 10:09, 21 July 2012 (UTC)

Just say "statue of a dragon (empty)". --Tjr (talk) 10:19, 21 July 2012 (UTC)

Partly Eaten

What are the rules for reduced weight of "partly eaten" comestibles? Do they apply also to non-food items that you might nibble on as a polyselfed matallivore or gelatinous cube? Fyr (talk) 09:42, 31 May 2013 (UTC)

Non-food is always eaten instantly to avoid the consequences of partly eaten nonfood; see eat.c, line 1891.
As for weight, I'm not really sure… recalc_wt in eat.c seems like it might be responsible, though. —bcode talk | mail 09:49, 31 May 2013 (UTC)

Rocks

Carry rocks helps to estimate how much you still can carry since a rock weighs 10. Nb (talk) 03:47, 9 December 2014 (UTC)

Min Object Weight

The table on page lists no items weighing less than 1 aum. But seeing the bag of holding formula brought me a little suspicion: the formula takes account of the total content weight, but does this mean an item weighing only 1 aum would be summed into the blessed bag formula as having 0.25 aum(theoretically speaking) or a single item weight is not allowed to fall below 1 aum and as such would be summed into the formula as 1 aum? Thanks in advance. Dratinimaster (talk) 05:43, 18 June 2022 (UTC)

The items inside a container don't directly have weight. Instead, the weight of the items within the bag of holding are summed, multiplied by 1/4 (for a blessed bag; rounded up by using (x+3)/4 instead of x/4 (integer division rounds toward zero in C)) and added to the weight of the bag, so that the bag itself weighs more. No fractional weights involved.[1] Thus a blessed bag of holding containing a 1-aum item weighs 15 + ceil(1/4) = 16, not 15.25. Cathartes (talk) 07:44, 20 June 2022 (UTC)
