A belt of carrying is a type of magical belt that appears in dNetHack, notdNetHack and notnotdNetHack. It has a randomized appearance when unidentified, and its base material depends on that appearance—the default one associated with it is a "braced belt", which is made of bone.

Generation

The belt of carrying makes up roughly ¹⁄₆ of all belts that are randomly generated.

Description

A hero that puts on a belt of carrying will have their carrying capacity altered: the worn belt increases carrying capacity by 25% if blessed, increases it by 12.5% if uncursed, and decreases it by 25% if cursed. The belt cannot be enchanted by a scroll of enchant armor or similar magical effects.
