Drunkenness
In dNetHack, notdNetHack and notnotdNetHack, drunkenness is a statistic that measures the number of potions of booze quaffed by the hero.
Description
A hero's drunkenness is capped at 3 potions times their experience level, e.g. a level 7 hero has a maximum of 21 drunkenness no matter how many potions they have quaffed above that value. Madpeople begin the game with 30 drunkenness.
Each time the hero attempts to move while they are stunned, or 1⁄5 of the time they try to move while confused, they have a chance that is equal to 3(x + 3) (where x is their drunkenness) of moving in a direction other than the one chosen—in essence, the more drunk the hero is, the less likely they are to stumble around while confused or stunned for any reason. Drunkenness has no effect on a hero's chances of becoming confused or stunned in the first place.
Additionally, once a hero reaches their drunkenness cap, quaffing booze can no longer raise their sanity above 50.
Drunkenness serves as the prerequisite for binding the spirit Naberius: his 'taboo' requires that the hero drink at least one potion of booze per three levels). High levels of drunkenness also allow Monks to practice drunken boxing.
