Nymph level (UnNetHack)

The nymph level is a special level that appears in UnNetHack. It contains several nymph monsters and the unique nymph, Aphrodite, along with several chests and a high amount of loot.
The nymph level has a 9⁄20 chance of appearing somewhere between levels 5 and 20.

Several trees and muddy swamp tiles and 4-6 fountains are randomly scattered throughout the map, with another fountain in the marked location at the 'end' of the cavern. The moats and muddy swamp between the cavern and the corridors are replaced at random during level creation to somewhat simulate the tides of a beach.
The cavern's entrance is blocked by a squeaky board at the marked location, with 12-15 more squeaky boards and 6-9 random traps placed at random locations throughout the level. Within the cavern, Aphrodite resides on a throne at her marked location. 20 other nymphs are generated around the level, with 4 of them capable of being placed outside the cavern proper. The level contains 4-7 rings, 4-7 chests, 12-15 apples, 11-16 gems, and 10-13 random items, with one of each set of items minus the gems possibly appearing outside of the cavern section.
Strategy
Though the many nymphs are often generated sleeping, combat in UnNetHack can wake sleeping monsters, and a hero navigating the cavern must be extremely careful not to step on any of the boards. In addition to stealth, a source of levitation or flying can be useful in ensuring that the nymphs remain asleep, and a means of detecting the nymphs beforehand (e.g. telepathy and a towel or blindfold) combined with a strong ranged attack is ideal to minimize the risk of being robbed blind en masse—tracking down nymphs with stolen on this level can become very perilous quickly, especially with water nymphs that can pass over water and beyond the hero's reach.
