In NetHack, Susanowo is the chaotic god of the Samurai pantheon.

Origin

Susanoo (スサノオ), romanized in historical orthography as "Susanowo" (スサノヲ) and often referred to by the honorific title Susanoo-no-Mikoto, is a deity or kami in Japanese mythology, and the younger brother of Amaterasu Omikami, goddess of the sun, and Tsukuyomi, god of the moon. Susanoo and his siblings are the "Three Precious Children" (三貴子) of the creator god Izanagi, though the exact circumstances of their birth vary with the myth.

Susanoo is a multifaceted deity with contradictory characteristics, being portrayed in various stories as a wild, impetuous god associated with the sea and storms, as a heroic figure who killed a monstrous serpent, or as a local deity linked with the harvest and agriculture - the myth of Susanoo's encounter with the serpent, known as the Yamata no Orochi, is also how he meets and rescues his future consort Kushinadahime. Susanoo's battle against the Orochi generally takes place after his expulsion from heaven, the details of which vary depending on the source; Susanoo's expulsion is generally explained as the result of his violent behavior towards his sibling Amaterasu due to their rivalry.
