In dNetHack and notdNetHack, a temporary intrinsic system is used for certain sources of intrinsic properties - under this system, binary intrinsics gained from certain sources behave as in NetHack, but only last a certain amount of turns.

Description

A temporary intrinsic property is one that expires after a certain amount of turns, but generally functions as the "complete" version of that intrinsic for the given duration. The scroll of resistance, most intrinsics conferred from corpses, tins and/or potions of blood, and some intrinsics conferred from eating jewelry are examples of intrinsics treated as temporary in this manner: some 'temporary' intrinsics, such as the blindness that drow Healers start each game with, effectively last indefinitely until cured or otherwise removed. Both of these types of temporary intrinsics can be stolen by attacks from gremlins and other monsters, while intrinsics conferred by your character's race, role, god via prayer, or current polyform (if any) cannot be lost in this manner, with some exceptions.
