The Wand of Orcus is an artifact that appears in EvilHack. It is chaotic-aligned, and its base item is a rod.
Generation
The Wand of Orcus cannot be wished for, and will revert to a normal rod if left in bones.
Orcus is always generated with the Wand of Orcus, which will always be cursed, identified and given an enchantment ranging from +4 to +7.
Description
The Wand of Orcus has +1d5 to-hit and deals +1d6 bonus damage against all monsters unless they are nonliving or otherwise resist death magic: living monsters suffer additional HP drain, and have a 3⁄20 chance of being killed outright unless they possess magic resistance. The Wand of Orcus will autocurse when dropped or wielded—if the artifact is currently wielded and is not cursed, it has a 1⁄100 chance of cursing itself each turn. Invoking the Wand of Orcus can pacify or tame undead monsters.
The Wand of Orcus can only be wielded safely by Orcus himself or other demon princes: the hero and other monsters that wield it will have their natural hit point regeneration suppressed (including any regeneration properties). It also cannot be used for twoweapon in the offhand, and cannot be paired with another artifact while performing two-weapon combat.
Origin
The Wand of Orcus is the trademark weapon of Orcus, one of the most well-known and mighty demon princes, in Dungeons & Dragons: it appears as a skull-topped wand with the power to slay any living being.
Encyclopedia entry
Orcus, Prince of the Undead, has a ram's head and a poison
stinger. He is most feared, though, for his powerful magic
abilities. His wand causes death to those he chooses.
