Parasitic master mind flayer

A parasitic master mind flayer, w, is a type of monster that appears in dNetHack, notdNetHack and notnotdNetHack. The parasitic master mind flayer is a small worm-like illithid that has developed differently from other master mind flayers as a result of attaching to an inorganic creature: it shares the same traits as the 'lesser' parasitic mind flayer including being slithy and lacking humanoid limbs unlike a normal mind flayer as a result of not assimilating its host body.

Parasitic master mind flayers have 13 points of AC in the special category. Seeing a parasitic master mind flayer causes the hero to lose sanity and increase their insight. The parasitic master mind flayer does not act as a growth stage to parasitic mind flayers, unlike a normal mind flayer that can grow up into a master mind flayer.

Parasitized commanders and the parasitized embraced alider have a parasitic mind flayer embedded in their bodies. Only the parasitized commander can be "deloused" or rid of the parasite through methods that will kill only the parasite without harming the host: death rays, digestion attacks and stoning will kill only the parasite and produce a tame counterpart of the formerly-parasitized commander, which also becomes crazed and confused as a result of the trauma from their "death". Conversely, the only way for a hero to remove the alider's parasite is to kill her and then move or otherwise dispose of the resulting corpse from the parasite before reviving her through whichver means they have available—the alider will be given the Great Web template, and is always tame, crazed, loyal, and plagued by doubt.

Parasitic master mind flayers have three intelligence-draining tentacle attacks and possess poison resistance, and they gain a halved base attack bonus of +0.5 to-hit per monster level.

Parasitic master mind flayers can be warded by the fully-reinforced Elder Sign.

Generation

Parasitic master mind flayers are not randomly generated, and normally-created ones are always hostile.

"Delousing" a parasitized commander as described above will cause their parasitic master mind flayer's corpse, statue or nothing to drop depending on the method used to kill the parasite. Killing the parasitized embraced alider will always leave behind the corpse of the parasitic master mind flayer that was controlling her as a death drop.
