I just go the message "It's not very comfortable..." when sitting. There was a chest and a corpse on the same tile as the throne. Once I removed them, the throne behaved normally. --Statico 22:06, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

Yes, that's normal behaviour. You will only sit on one thing at a time, so if there are items on a throne (or similar dungeon feature) you won't be able to sit on it until you remove all the items. -- Killian 15:00, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

Is this the same as "overlord to its kind" as described in some monster attributes? Does that attribute have any other effects? Is it completely meaningless for overlords that aren't polymorphable, like Demo and Rodney? --Slandor 04:07, July 13, 2010 (UTC)

About confused looting...

Just tried the confused looting in the Castle throne and without gold it said the usual "You don't find anything here to loot.", but once I picked up some gold it indeed threw my gold into a nearby chest with "Thank you for your contribution to reduce the debt.". So it appears to work only with gold and I then verified it from the source code, tooo.

Also while looking at the source I didn't notice it doing anything to the throne itself, so can a throne really function like an endless supply of throneroom monsters? (given that a forgotten spell is an endless source of confusion) Kynde 10:50, March 25, 2010 (UTC)

To answer myself, that works great! That's exactly what my wishless atheist needed. It's indeed a great source of dragons at the Castle (scales, pets, loot, resistances, food, you name it). This probably could be mentioned in the main page, too. Kynde 20:54, March 25, 2010 (UTC)

Wizmode testing on Mac/Qt/tiles shows a differnt behavior: #looting only works if confused and carrying gold, and then the gold goes to the monster unconditionally ("The exchequer accepts your contribution."). It is not deposited in any container, nor does it matter if there is a container on the level at all. Tjr 13:13, April 7, 2010 (UTC)

Orcus?

What is with the random line that says "Orcus is not on a throne"? Has anyone actually gotten confused about that one? I've certainly never seen it. I would remove it, but I'm not sure if it might be there for a good reason... Scorchgeek 13:19, 6 March 2011 (UTC)

UnNetHack

Page should probably have an UnNetHack section outlining changes to throne sitting. I know that thrones do not grant wishes in UnNetHack; I don't know what the alternative message is, or whether there are other differences to throne sitting as well.--Kevin Wayne (talk) 03:28, 2 April 2015 (UTC)

ring of sustain ability

With unihorn nerfed I have started to put on a ring of sustain ability before sitting on thrones. Would this be worth adding to the page? --Mobileuser (talk) 21:49, 21 August 2020 (UTC)

Perhaps, though thrones can also increase your attributes. Restore ability (from the spell or potion) is a better choice. --Aximili (talk) 02:19, 23 August 2020 (UTC)

Unlisted Effects

I happen to have stumbled upon an unlisted effect stating:"You feel charismatic". Quite the same statement as the one by the Magic trap, except that I haven't had any nearby hostile monsters to prove it's the same effect altogether. Not a new effect. "Gain a random attribute" is listed. Unlike for magic traps, this does not tame monsters. (Magic traps are basically: raise Charisma with this message, then tame any adjacent monsters silently). --Phol ende wodan (talk) 11:19, 18 August 2021 (UTC)
