Inactive sites should be replaced with a functioning archive link (usually via the Wayback Machine at the Internet Archive) before being considered for deletion.

Resources for older versions

Before the NetHackWiki existed, people collected information about the game mechanics on "spoiler" pages. Some of these are still online, while others are archived, and each will be denoted accordingly. Many older versions of the game are still played both locally and on public servers, and depending on the precise mechanics covered, some of these spoilers may still be applicable for later or even current versions of NetHack.

NetHack has several documents that serve as lists of frequently asked questions, or FAQs. The best one for beginners to read is the rec.games.roguelike.nethack FAQ, hosted here on the wiki. Various other FAQs that can be found across the web are listed below:
