When matching with other dragon armor for the purpose of enabling a breath weapon or boosting the breath weapon of half-dragons, Chromatic Dragon Scales is treated as black, red, blue, white, yellow, and green dragon armor.
The Chromatic Dragon Scales can be converted into a dragon scale mail or dragon scale shield with the same properties and appropriate AC.
