Unlike the submachine gun and the assault rifle, the heavy machine gun cannot be set to fire in burst or single-shot mode. It always fires on full automatic.

Strategy
Due to its extreme weight and only marginally better rate of fire than assault rifles, the heavy machine gun is generally not a viable weapon. Use a submachine gun or an assault rifle instead.
