Large shields are normally found on watchmen and soldiers.
Strategy
They are rarely used by adventurers since the identical dwarvish roundshield is common in the Gnomish Mines, and the elven shield is much lighter and provides the same AC. Most non-spellcasters who opt to use a shield later in the game will usually wear the shield of reflection.
