A rabid rabbit, r, is a type of monster that appears in SLASH'EM, SlashTHEM and Hack'EM. It is a a faster and more dangerous variant of the rabbit, which it shares a glyph with.

The rabid rabbit has a poisonous, constitution-draining bite similar to the rabid rat; in SlashTHEM, it also has poison resistance.

In SLASH'EM and SlashTHEM, rabid rabbits can be tamed with carrots, while in Hack'EM they cannot be tamed at all.

Generation

Rabid rabbits are always generated hostile, and will not be randomly generated in Gehennom.

Strategy

The rabid rabbit's high movement speed and poisonous bite make them a very dangerous early encounter in all variants, and they should be brought down as quickly as possible with any means of ranged attack available if you lack poison resistance.

SLASH'EM

Rabid rabbits do not have poison resistance like most monsters with poisonous attacks, providing further options for disposing of one - a poisoned edged weapon (e.g. using a potion of sickness or a toilet) can kill one off quickly, and carrots can be used to tame them - tamed rabid rabbits can help with other early-game threats, and at minimum you will have one less threat of instant death to fear.

SlashTHEM

In SlashTHEM, rabid rabbits cannot be poisoned themselves, though other methods of handling them still apply.

Hack'EM

In Hack'EM, rabid rabbits do not have poison resistance, but cannot be tamed as well.
