Reaching the Tower

The tower is accessible from an upstair on the top floor of the Gnomish Mines, one level up from the mine's entry level.

You are standing on the surface, albeit at the bottom of a shear ravine. You hear ravens croaking in the trees, beyond which rise a windowless tower.

Forest Approach

Expect to be greeted by a wave of human zombies immediately after entering the level. Though far from a dire threat, they are none-the-less more difficult than the typical random monster in the early game.

Although the forest might at first seem a treasure-trove of vegan food, industrious kickers will be saddened to find that the trees contain only ravens.

Gaining Entry

The walls are too hard to dig into, closing off the most easy route of entry. However, it is still relatively easy to break into the tower.

• A player with knock or a Wand of opening can gain entry by lowering the raised drawbridge.
• A player with force bolt or a Wand of striking can destroy the iron bars with one zap, and the raised drawbridge with a second. Be careful not to hit the lowered drawbridge with a force bolt while standing on it.
• Finally, a player with water walking, Magical breathing, or Cone of cold or a Wand of cold can enter through the southern breach.

Tower Guards

A legion devil grunt (i) keeps watch over the front hallway from behind a set of iron bars. Players with striking can break the bars and confront him directly, bypassing the front hall.

The Hall is guarded by a werewolf, a nurse named Nyx, and a maid named Persephone. With her 12 speed and strong weapons, Persephone in particular is a dangerous opponent for a low-level character.
