Dichotomy is an artifact weapon that appears in EvilHack. It is unaligned, and its base item is a runesword made of gemstone.
Generation
Dichotomy can only be created by combining Fire Brand and Frost Brand at a forge—it cannot be wished for, and will revert to its base item if left in a bones file.
Description
While wielded, Dichotomy grants fire resistance and cold resistance, and protects open inventory from fire and cold damage. Dichotomy has +1d8 to-hit and deals additional fire and/or cold damage against monsters that do not have fire resistance or cold resistance respectively, potentially destroying items vulnerable to either element in their open inventory: against targets that lack both resistances, there is a 1⁄6 chance that Dichotomy will cause an additional 3x3 explosion of fire or cold centered on them.
Encyclopedia entry
