A droven spear is a type of weapon that appears in dNetHack, notdNetHack and notnotdNetHack. It is a stackable weapon that is two-handed for medium-sized characters - it can be wielded in melee and thrown, and uses the spear skill. It has a default material of obsidian, and appears as a long spear with its material displayed when unidentified.
The Death-Spear of Vhaerun is an artifact droven spear, and The Sceptre of Lolth can take the form of a droven spear.
Generation
Droven spears are not randomly generated. Drow heroes start with knowledge of the droven spear.
Houseless drow have a 1⁄6 chance of generating with a droven spear. Y-cultist fighters and other drow that do not have a defined starting inventory have an effective 1⁄12 chance of generating with a droven spear.
Droven spears are generated in a few quest branches:
- In the Drow Noble quest, three droven spears are randomly generated on the locate level at level creation, and one is randomly generated on each of the lower filler levels at level creation.
- In the Hedrow Noble quest, one droven spear each is generated on the home level, locate level and each of the lower filler levels at level creation.
- In the Hedrow shared quest, one droven spear is generated on the upper filler level at level creation.
- In the Anachrononaut quest and Android quest, a droven spear is randomly generated on each of the lower filler levels at level creation.
