A drow, @, is a type of monster that appears in EvilHack. The drow is a monster that acts as a placeholder for drow heroes and racial monsters generated as drow: they are strong and accurate, have ultravision, can see invisible, and will seek out weapons and other items to pick up.
A drow has a single weapon attack, possesses sleep resistance and poison resistance and takes extra damage from iron.
Eating a drow corpse or tin grants 2⁄25 (+8%) additional sleep resistance.
Generation
Drow are not randomly generated, and are not valid targets for genocide or polymorph. Normally-generated drow that are not racial monsters may be created as peaceful towards drow heroes, and are always hostile towards elves and orcs, including heroes of those races.
Drow can generate as shopkeepers, chaotic and unaligned altar priests, mercenaries, and chaotic and unaligned player monsters.
Drow zombies leave behind very old drow corpses upon death that are always tainted and induce a zombifying illness when eaten, and have a chance of reviving from those corpses unless canceled or beheaded—a drow zombie that is killed while the hero wields Sunsword will never leave a corpse. Drow mummies also leave behind aged drow corpses upon death, which behave the same as corpses left by mummies in NetHack.
Encyclopedia entry
Drow, also known as dark elves, deep elves, night elves, and
the Dark Ones among orcs, are a dark-skinned sub-race of elves
that predominantly live in the Underdark. They are hated and
feared due to their cruelty, though some non-evil and an even
smaller number of good drow exist.
"Station: In all the world of the drow, there is no more
important word. It is the calling of their - of our - religion,
the incessant pulling of hungering heartstrings. Ambition
overrides good sense and compassion is thrown away in its face,
all in the name of Lloth, the Spider Queen." - Drizzt Do'Urden
