Reference | EvilHack 0.8.4 - src/monst.c, line 3141 |
A drow mage, @, is a type of monster that appears in EvilHack. The drow mage is a type of male drow that is roughly equivalent to the elven wizard, and is a lord to drowkind. Drow mages are strong and accurate, have ultravision, can see invisible, and will pick up weapons, magical items and other items that they come across.
A drow mage can cast magic missile and one mage monster spell during each of his turns, possesses sleep resistance, poison resistance, magic resistance, and telepathy, and takes extra damage from iron.
Eating a drow mage corpse or tin grants 2⁄25 (+8%) additional sleep resistance and may grant telepathy.
Generation
Randomly generated drow mages may be created as peaceful towards drow heroes, and are always hostile towards non-drow elves and orcs, including heroes of those races.
Drow mages typically generate with dark elven items: They have a 1⁄2 chance of generating with either a dark elven helm or dark elven cloak with equal probability, an independent 1⁄3 chance of generating with either dark elven boots or dark elven gloves with equal probability, and an independent 1⁄2 chance of generating with a dark elven dagger.
All drow weapons generated in a drow mage's initial inventory have a 1⁄3 chance of being coated in drow poison.
Encyclopedia entry
Drow, also known as dark elves, deep elves, night elves, and
the Dark Ones among orcs, are a dark-skinned sub-race of elves
that predominantly live in the Underdark. They are hated and
feared due to their cruelty, though some non-evil and an even
smaller number of good drow exist.
"Station: In all the world of the drow, there is no more
important word. It is the calling of their - of our - religion,
the incessant pulling of hungering heartstrings. Ambition
overrides good sense and compassion is thrown away in its face,
all in the name of Lloth, the Spider Queen." - Drizzt Do'Urden
