The Gauntlets of Purity are a set of artifact armor that appears in EvilHack. It is lawful, and its base item is a pair of gauntlets of power made of silver.
Generation
The Gauntlets of Purity can only be created by combining Dragonbane and Grayswandir at a forge—it cannot be wished for, and will revert to its base item if left in a bones file.
Description
While worn, in addition to the AC and 25 strength granted by its base item, the Gauntlets of Purity do not increasae spellcasting failure rates and also grant reflection, resistance to death magic, and fast energy regeneration. A lawful hero wearing the Gauntlets of Purity also becomes immune to charming and seduction, and they gain a bonus to martial arts damage when fighting unarmed.
To keep the Gauntlets of Purity worn, the hero must remain piously aligned (i.e. have an alignment record of at least 20): if their alignment record drops below this threshold, the gauntlets will resist being worn, and will force themselves off the hero's hands if they are already worn when this occurs. Blasting damage from the Gauntlets is also more severe for cross-aligned characters: the blasts inflict 6d10 damage if the hero has a stellar alignment record (i.e. above 50), and deal 8d10 damage otherwise. Additionally, the Gauntlets of Purity have a 1⁄2000 chance of slipping off the hands of a chaotic hero that is wearing them each turn, while Infidels cannot wear the Gauntlets at all.
Encyclopedia entry
Only the most pure of heart can wear these gauntlets. Those
that wear them can resist the charms and wiles of even the
most seductive of creatures that would seek to corrupt their
hearts.
