A lava blob, b, is a type of monster that appears in SLASH'EM, SlashTHEM and Hack'EM. The lava blob is a blob that has an affinity to fire, and has a tendency to wander while moving.
A lava blob has a fiery touch attack and a passive fire attack, and possesses fire resistance and sleep resistance.
Eating a lava blob corpse or tin has a 2⁄3 chance of conveying fire resistance.
Generation
Randomly generated lava blobs are always created hostile.
Strategy
The passive attack is quite manageable, even for a non-fire resistant hero: it merely does a fixed 2d6 damage, rather than an amount dependent on the blob's level, unlike blue jellies or energy vortices. Fire resistance makes their attacks completely harmless.
Lava blob corpses are an excellent vegan source of fire resistance. In particular, Monks in SLASH'EM and SlashTHEM trying to keep to their vegan conduct will appreciate this, as they do not automatically gain fire resistance from leveling up, unlike in vanilla NetHack.
