A parasite is a type of veggy comestible that appears in dNetHack, notdNetHack and notnotdNetHack.
Generation
Parasites are not randomly generated.
They cannot be stocked in delicatessen and are not generated as part of level creation.
Corpses that rot away may leave behind a parasite (see rotting).
Using a dissection kit on a non-mindless, non-animal corpse that is less than 50 turns old has a 1⁄10 chance of creating 1–2 parasites, generated on the current square.
Description
Eating a parasite grants 25 nutrition and takes one turn.
Rotting
Corpses that rot away naturally for a hero that has the weed thought slotted and at least 27 insight, or a neutral Undead Hunter who has pierced the veil, may leave behind a parasite on the square they decomposed:
- 1⁄100 of the time if they are a neutral Undead Hunter who has pierced the veil and has removed their starting weed thought.
- 1⁄66 of the time if they currently have the weed thought active.
- 1⁄50 of the time if they currently have the eye thought active.
- 1⁄33 of the time if they currently have both the weed and eye thought active.
