In dNetHack, notdNetHack, and notdNetHack, a spellcasting focus is an item that can decrease the hero's spellcasting failure rate while they wield it.
Description
There are generally two types of spellcasting focus items:
- "Mundane" focuses are based on specific items or item types, usually improve the success rate of spells from specific spell schools, and can include artifacts with matching base items.
- Artifacts that usually improve the success rate of multiple spell types, but may also have more specific restrictions.
A user has suggested improving this page or section as follows:
"Describe the formula for failure rate reduction, including specific math if necessary."
