Japanese
Maybe we should enable Japanese. There already is a Japanese language NetHack community. A read-only mirror is at http://nethack-users.sourceforge.jp/hackaholic/ On the one hand, the primary site blocks everybody located outside Japan, as an anti-spam measure. On the other hand, I'd like to lower barriers on our side.
For example, Riding could get a subpage Riding/jp, which redirects to their article (translation). The redirect should use <a href="link" rel=nofollow> since they didn't update their links to Wikia.
- Do you think links would improve our wiki (if they agree)?
- Is their site active enough for these purposes?
- Should we ask them if they want to be linked to?
- How do we ask so that they can save face about the Wikia and read-only issues?

Simplified Chinese
I'm a NetHack player from China. We already have a NetHack Chinese Wiki on Fandom (I'm one of the editors), but Fandom is difficult to access in many regions of China, so we plan to abandon that Wiki. - We do have Korean and Russian subpages, albeit on relatively fewer articles that have been rewritten since, so I'm not against the idea myself. I'm just one guy, though, and I'd rather the more experienced admins weigh in on the matter. --Umbire the Phantom (talk) 13:30, 22 January 2024 (UTC)
- Absolutely! I think we should welcome legitimate NetHack content in any language. It would be useful to have a local language rep in #nethackwiki on libera IRC, just as a way to answer questions if they arise, but we already have other languages and as long as there is some level of quality control, I'd like to be welcoming of all here. dtype (talk) 05:54, 23 January 2024 (UTC)
