Shamans start out hallucinating and continue hallucinating throughout the game.
Guidebook entry: Shamanism is a practice that involves reaching altered states of consciousness in order to perceive and interact with a spirit world and channel its transcendental energies into this world.
The shaman's special spell is clairvoyance. Shamans start with Basic proficiency in divination spells and can advance to Expert in that school. They can also gain Skilled proficiency in clerical, enchantment, and healing spells, and Basic in attack and escape.
The status line shows you to be one of the following ranks when you reach the specified experience level.
- XL 1-2: Medicine Man/Woman
- XL 3-5: Spirit Seeker
- XL 6-9: Spirit Talker
- XL 10-13: Visionary
- XL 14-17: Mystic
- XL 18-21: Ecstatic
- XL 22-25: Yachak
- XL 26-29: Seer
- XL 30: Oracle
Shamans start with Basic skill in longsword and can advance it to Expert. They can also reach Expert in two-weapon combat; Skilled in short sword, quarterstaff, scimitar, broadsword, and two-handed sword; and Basic in hand-to-hand combat and riding.
