The Gauntlets of Purity are a set of artifact armor that appears in EvilHack. It is lawful, and its base item is a pair of gauntlets of power made of silver.
Generation
The Gauntlets of Purity can only be created by combining Dragonbane and Grayswandir at a forge - it cannot be wished for, and will revert to its base item if left in a bones file.
Description
While worn, in addition to the AC and 25 strength conferred by its base item, the Gauntlets of Purity confer reflection, resistance to death magic, and faster energy regeneration, and do not confer any penalties to spellcasting. Additionally, a lawful character wearing the Gauntlets of Purity is immune to seduction and gains a bonus to martial arts damage when fighting unarmed.
To keep the Gauntlets of Purity worn, a character must remain piously aligned: if their alignment record drops below this threshold, the gauntlets will resist being worn, and will force themselves off the character's hands if they are already worn when this occurs. Blasting damage from the Gauntlets is also more severe for cross-aligned characters: the blasts inflict 6d10 damage if you have a stellar alignment record (above 50), and 8d10 damage otherwise. Additionally, chaotic characters wearing the Gauntlets of Purity have a 1⁄2000 chance each turn that they will slip off their hands of their own accord, and Infidels cannot wear them at all.
Encyclopedia entry
Only the most pure of heart can wear these gauntlets. Those
that wear them can resist the charms and wiles of even the
most seductive of creatures that would seek to corrupt their
hearts.
