The One Ring is a quest artifact that appeared in older versions of SLASH'EM, and is also present as a deferred object in SlashTHEM. It served as the prize for completing the Hobbit quest, and was lawful for wishing purposes. Its base item was a ring of invisibility.
In vanilla NetHack, hobbits ask about the One Ring when you chat to them.
EvilHack features The One Ring as an obtainable artifact with the same base item.
Description
While carried, The One Ring would confer drain resistance, half spell damage and warning. Invoking The One Ring would toggle conflict.

The One Ring cannot generate randomly, and will revert to its base item if left in a bones file.
The One Ring will always appear at a random spot in the cave of Gollum within Goblin Town.
